For example: The U.S. pledged, as part of the Paris Agreement that aims for hugely reduced reductions in global emissions, to slash harmful emissions by 26-28% by 2025. New York City has, more ambitiously, vowed to reduce greenhouse gases by 80% before 2050. Chicago has committed to be using 100% renewable energy for its City buildings by 2025.
