On one side we talk about how more and more people are joining the gym and realizing the importance of fitness, and on the other hand, stats say that the number of unfit people is on a constant rise. Let’s trust the stats here and have a look at why Americans are becoming unhealthy by each passing day.
1. The Ease of Everything
These days, you can do everything without you having to move an inch from where you are. There was a time when you had to go out to get your favorite coffee, but now even that can be ordered online. This has made people lazy as they do not indulge in much physical activity, as a result they gain weight and become unhealthy.
America is one of the most obese nations in the world, and the introduction of mobile apps and the ease of technology is considered one of the main reasons behind this.
Tasks that were once completed manually, such as mowing your garden, can now be done with the help of an electric mower. While this does help us live easily, this has definitely made us unhealthy.
2. The Environment is Getting Polluted
The number of factories is increasing and so is the pollution. The pollutants found in the air have a direct effect on our health, and as a result we are becoming unhealthy.
Government organizations and NGOs are taking steps to prevent pollution, but the result hasn’t been anything to write home about. We need to educate the community about the importance of a healthy environment so that our children can be fit and healthy.
3. We Love TV and the Internet
It will not be wrong to state that a huge margin of the population is borderline couchpotato. We love lying in our comfortable couches and enjoying our favorite shows while sipping soda. This was once a scene shown in The Simpsons, but this has now become a norm in many American houses.
People spend hours on the internet just browsing the web on their mobile phones. There is no need to go out and play or indulge in healthy activities like cycling or soccer. As a result, we are getting weaker and unhealthier.
4. The Food is Unhealthy
A recently published report indicated that the food we consume is a lot less healthier than the food we consumed ten years ago. There are many reasons why this is happening. First of all, the ingredients are not as healthy as they once were. The fruits and vegetables are not organic, and the chemicals found in them often play a huge role in making us sick.
Moreover, the consumption of junk food, which has been proven to be unhealthy, is on a constant rise. We love to munch candies and drink colas, and the effect is for one and all to see. Many of us do not even know where to buy Snickers protein bars, but we all know where to get our favorite chocolate.
